Description:
The core goal of the MINRESCUE project is to develop and validate strategies to upgrade coal mining waste geomaterials (CMWGs) for sustainable construction purposes. The improvement protocol to be used by the stakeholders will be defined based on the engineering functionality assigned to the improved waste material, the service life of the construction product and its application, and the environmental scenario (including, e.g., site conditions, climate, and mechanical actions). The protocol will be tailored as a function of the physical, chemical/mineralogical and mechanical properties of the available CMWGs. This implies a new paradigm to employ the mine wastes in the concept and design of construction materials and building/structure/infrastructure components with sustainable signature and fit-to-purpose performances, including short-term and long-term behaviour under the intended

scenario and up to the end-of-life of the targeted application. The project will provide ready-to-use tools that will be used to promote sustainable and durable reuse of CMWGs improved by a specific procedurę or by chemical additives for the production of high-end building products and structural/infrastructural components.
