The “Intersector agreement for the development of hydrogen economy in Poland” was signed on October 14, 2021, in Warsaw on the initiative of the Minister of Climate and the Environment, Michał Kurtyka. On behalf of the Central Mining Institute, the Agreement was signed by professor Adam Smoliński.
The Agreement serves as the continuation of the action started in 2020 with the signing of the Letter of Intent concerning the foundation of a partnership for the establishment of a hydrogen economy. The Minister of Climate and the Environment, Michał Kurtyka, remarked that Poland is the first country in the European Union that concludes an intersector agreement concerning the development of hydrogen economy that is intended to stimulate economic growth.
The most important goal of the Agreement, apart from providing the conditions and undertaking cooperation for the development of hydrogen technologies and their implementation, is to maximise the Polish contribution (“local content”) in the chain of service delivery for the purposes of establishing a hydrogen economy. The Deputy Minister of Climate and the Environment, Ireneusz Zyska, stressed that the greatest possible contribution of Polish companies as well as the Polish technical solutions and patents in the supply chain will be of key significance to maintain the competitiveness of the national economy.
The Agreement also serves as a response to the global challenges related to counteracting the consequences of climate change, and its content proposes a number of solutions that would become an integral part of the Polish energy transition, with the intention to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases and suspended particulates into the environment.
The Agreement was signed by 138 entities representing various sectors of the economy, science, government and local administration as well as business support institutions.
