Description:
The project's main objective is to raise public awareness, particularly in small local communities of the need to transform hard coal and lignite mining and promote new visions for the development of mining regions. Activities in the project will include elements of education through the organisation of meetings, workshops and public debates on the subject of transformation and transition of mining regions into sustainable development centres, intersectoral cooperation with representatives of local authorities and businesses. The project also plans to conduct a media campaign (including social media) that will engage the public in the project's themes through various forms of dialogue with stakeholders in a just transition in mining municipalities. The implementation of the project was included in work packages (WPs) containing relevant tasks and the individual operational objectives of these WP's were defined as follows: - identification of the main premises determining the process of transformation of hard coal and lignite mining industry, - strengthening public participation to engage small community stakeholders in the transformation process, - implementation of an educational and social campaign to support the development of the mining regions potential.
The project consortium was formed by the following partners:
