Laboratory of Coal Spontaneous Combustion

We offer research-service works in the following areas:

  • fire hazard assessment;
  • monitoring of fire hazard in coal mining using the method of determination of the temperature and the mass of heated coal in caving areas of walls on the basis of the caving gases analysis;
  • laboratory tests of coal samples from the selected seams for the coal characteristics, quantity and composition of gases emitted during oxidation under conditions similar to adiabatic conditions;
  • implementation of specialist laboratory equipment for the precise analysis of gases;
  • laboratory testing of gas samples;
  • development of computer programs for the interpretation of the results of spontaneous combustion of coal;
  • fire hazard forecasting;
  • designation of areas particularly vulnerable to endogenous fire for caving areas of selected walls;
  • fire hazard prevention;
  • research on self-combustion of materials;
  • specifying the rules for the detection of fire in tunnels.
